Say Kids

Say Kids is a Nashville, Tennessee based rock band formed in Early 2018 after a chance meeting between singer Peyton Smith and guitarist Will Cheatham.  Matt Gay and Oliver Finch joined the band shortly after moving to Nashville from Los Angeles, California, and handle rhythm duties, playing drums and bass respectively. They blend together influences ranging from psychedelia, funk, rock and blues to create a new and unique sound.  After formation, the band began rehearsing in Smith’s studio, and began releasing music soon thereafter.

Their most recent release, Rectify, already boasts over 2000 plays, with some of their earlier music having over 6000 on Spotify alone.  The music video for Rectify is also performing very well, having reached over 500 views in only 3 weeks.

Singer Peyton Smith has described their sound as “punting through a candyland board”, and fan Darrell Clark has said, “Right from the start I saw that this band had something special. The one thing that caught my eye the most though was Peyton’s face paint.”

Peyton Smith’s face paint may catch some people’s eyes, but their sound catches everyone’s ear.  The band’s sound has been favorably compared to Maroon 5, but with influences ranging from blues and rock all the way to funk.

Coming up through the Nashville house show scene, Say Kids quickly graduated to larger, more established venues, and continue to impress and gain new fans at every show, including most recently at the Basement, a famous venue in Nashville. Most recently, the band announced the upcoming release of their first EP, “From Earth”, due out in August of this year. The EP sees the young rockers team up with producer Adam Lochnes to ensure that “From Earth” delivers more of the Psychedelic-tinged rock n’ roll that has made Say Kids one of the more interesting and entertaining bands to come forth from Nashville’s indie rock scene.
